   Pretty obvious choice. Others had good weekends but this was a Grade A performance from Hamilton.

         I would give 2nd to Sutil for dragging the FI into Q3 and then driving the wheels off to bring it home ahead of the Mercedes. Alonso 3rd for a near faultless drive followed by Webber then Massa (whose race was undone, again, by an average pitstop).

         hardly flawless. he stuffed up and let webber pass, before using his 10km/h speed advantage to pass webber back.
         the pass of alonso was also a little exagerated in how good it was, alonso was obvioulsy having trouble heating up the tyres for the first lap or 2 after his stop,

            Webber did not have a 10km/h speed advantage nor did he expect Hamilton to get into his slip stream and come back at him that fast. He was caught off guard and was too deep into the breaking zone at turn one to do anything about it.
            I agree that the pass on Alonso had more to do with his tires being completely cold. However, the decision to make the pass where it was made and aggressively pull it off was a thing of beauty.
            Flawless, who cares? Superb race craft on Hamilton part, yes, without a doubt.

            Hamilton was in the same situation when Webber got alongside as Hamilton just got out of the pitlane. Hamilton was able to fend of the same attack though.

      Hamilton drove flawlessly, excellent start.

      I’m putting both Ferraris at second place – Alonso for being almost 100% consistent, and Massa for holding Vettel that long.

   For me, it has to be Lewis. Don’t shout the ‘b’ word, please, because:

   1. I’m Australian, not British (that’s not to say everyone who is British is b**sed – OK, I’m digging myself a hole here, I’ll stop now)

   2. I’m not a Hamilton fan

   3. The most important point of them all; he was the best driver in what was arguably the third quickest car.

   I had to vote Hamilton. He was superb in qualifying, and missed out on pole position by what turned out to be a couple of metres. I was absolutely astounded and I believe I even found myself clapping (despite being the only one in the room) at his achievement. And then in the race he did everything right. He was the quickest man on the track for most of the race, pulled off a number of impressive overtakes and then managed his tyres well enough to allow him to make a late pit stop and spend minimal time on the slower tyres.

   The moment of the weekend for me was his move on Webber down the pit-straight. Webber was obviously quicker at that point, and he had put Lewis under an enormous amount of pressure until he cracked and allowed Webber through. I, for one, thought that was it – Webber would be gone. But Lewis didn’t give up, and somehow managed to pull off one of the most exciting moves of the season when he would have been forgiven for slowing down and sulking. Brilliant driving.

   Sutil was also impressive, as was Kobayashi, but the latter was kind of expected to be make it into the points, with incredible overtaking abilites and more sets of fresh tyres than everyone else (excluding the ‘new’ teams).

      I must say, I hesitated of voting for Hamilton, seeing he is already ahead by a big margin.

      But I am sure the Alonso fans will give their driver a few votes still, and Webber might get some as well (and he did bog down at the start).

      So I am voting for Hamilton as well, because here he thoroughly deserved it with his drive and it came at the perfect moment to get the season going nicely.

      If not Hamilton, I would have probably voted for Sutil. He was at home, did arguably the best job of the Germans present (save maybe Glock) and for him it comes at just the right moment to assert himself in the team and sport just like for Hamilton.

      Damon, you’ve written it for me. I would have loved to have given it to Webber but it’s not like a bad start was a rare and unlucky occurrence for him, he has to do something to fix this, even if it takes spending all his free days at the dragstrip. Just because Lewis is the obvious choice does not make him the wrong choice.

      I’m about to vote Hamilton. But I don’t agree, I think it was the quickest car.

      Red Bull has had a qualifying advantage all year, but Hamilton managed to cut this down massively. However, during the race, I really think Webber had the weakest car.

      I didn’t vote for Seb, I voted for Hamilton, pretty obvious choice. However, it was pretty impressive that Seb was able to claw his way up to fourth. Granted, his slow pace and mistakes got him in a position (what was at worst, 12th?) that he should have never been in, but when he spun I thought he’d be lucky to get 8th….so it is a tiny bit impressive (not as impressive as Ham, Alo, Web, or Sutil though)

   There’s no real doubt this week, it was Hamilton’s weekend. He pulled out the a dream qualifying lap putting him between the Red Bulls then drove an near flawless race. He made the most of out of the McLaren’s pace in the cold conditions and pulled off two critical passes on Alonso and Webber – who both had good weekends, but Hamilton had a great weekend.

   This is equal most easiest decision this season, the other being Canada. It just happens that Macca boys always win the more exciting races(not all of them though).

   And before anyone suggests a nationalistic or geographical bias on my part, I’d like to list drivers whom I am more likely to be a supporter of based on those criteria mentioned above:
   Vitaly Petrov, Heikki Kovalainen, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg, Nick Heidfeld, Michael Schumacher, Adrian Sutil, Timo Glock, Sebastien Buemi, Jerome d’Ambrosio, Vitantonio Liuzzi… I got bored.

   Easiest vote ever for me, but I expect even those who don’t like Lew will be voting for him this time around. He was easily the most exciting driver to watch, plus you knew he had to be in great form to get everything out of his car, AND he won! It was an excellent race, though … the top 3 dueling together and comprised of three different teams … that’s about as good as it gets.

      So, how often do people just vote for drivers they like? I have yet to do that. I like to think I give an unbiased opinion of the weekend (maybe 5% to practice, 20% to Qualy, and 75% to the race) and then pick who did the best job….

          Alonso and Hamilton are great sportsmen. They compete at an entirely different level than their peers.
          I only wish Kimi was still racing, then I would add him to mix.
          Wouldn’t it be nice if this is a harbinger of what we can expect for the balance of the season? Great race!!!

       Todfod, maybe from the comments it sometimes seems that a lot of people do not like him.

       But that does not bar most of them from voting for a great drive Alonso has, like he did in Silverstone, or in Valencia, where he duly won.
       When I first looked he had no votes, nor did Vettel and Webber. But that was only because many had not even got here yet to vote.

          Right now Alonso has about twice the votes Webber has, and Vettel only got one extra vote to double his number. Sutil is doing better though.

          Sutil’s result might also be because voters were more pleasantly surprised about him getting such a result than they were seeing Alonso putting the recently found speed of his Ferrari to very good use.

          Especially as Hamilton basically outshone Alonso in Germany, getting a surprisingly good grid position and driving an impressive race with decisive overtaking moves and great speed.

       Didn’t defend adequately against Hamilton. Went off the road letting Vettel past in the race. Qualified 4th.

       Compared to Hamilton & perhaps Sutil, I’m surprised so many have actually voted for Fernando this race.

    I “kind of” don’t like Hamilton when he is too aggressive, but I REALLY liked his victory yesterday, being the best part when he was passed by Webber and swiftly bounced back to got his first place recovered. GREATHe also showed he can manage the gap and save fuel…. BTW, is Alonso situation permitted? I mean, is it not mandatory to go to parc ferme WITH THE CAR?

             I doubt it. Over a race distance it is harder to judge and must be incredibly marginal- I doubt changes will be made. At most maybe they’d fine them a little to prevent all teams underfuelling a little.

          I thought the rules were changed after the hamilton incident in Canada. I was under the impression that drivers now had to make it back to the pits with the required amount of fuel? If not what was all the furore over hamilton stopping?

             But that’s about qualifying, isn’t it? Anyway, Alonso’s Ferrari had enough of fuel, he stopped it to ensure that was the case.

             Oh, the qualifying rule means there’s a maximum allowed time that you can take for the in-lap, I think (ie. pushing isn’t fast enough).

    It’s my first time admitting that Hamilton did the best job this weekend but during the race I thought Massa was doing very well passing Rosberg and keeping Vettel behind after Vettel’s brake problem was cleared up.

    Lewis.
    Great start.
    Great battle with Webber, as usual with those two.
    Was able to defend his position and then attacking taking risks when necessary in two consecutive and decisive laps in the the exact same situation but reversed. Things like that don’t happen by accident.
    He also managed doing the pulling away MW and FA in a few laps and building a comfortable gap, and there is where he actually earned this win.

    He even made a mature comment in the PRF.
    I couldn’t avoid voting for him even if I would.

    Sutil for me. Had the defenition of a solid, mistake-free weekend. I didn’t see him put a wheel wrong all weekend, he was in the top ten in every session, and beat the faster Mercedes cars. I could have said Hamilton or Alonso but I feel that Alonso gave away the lead slightly to easily and that contrary to what he says, Hamilton did actually have the fastest car this weekend.

    Faster than Vettel all weekend, in all sessions but it just shows you how RBR’s season is turning round, that driver of the day was, for me, Hamilton with his skill and that top speed advantage.

    So Easy. Lewis Hamilton. Still I think the Mclaren is half a second slower than Redbull in Qualifying and a tenth or two slower in race pace but for Lewis to be 0.055 away from pole and than winning the race was nothing but over achievement by Lewis. Mclaren also wasn’t very good on heavy fuel and we have seen Hamilton struggling and passed by Webber first on lap 12(Ham re passed but still) and then again after first pitstops, Webber was ahead. On lighter fuel at the end though Mclaren looked better but overall no way Mclaren was the fastest car.

    Hamilton just drove the wheels off his car and trounced his team mate, who couldn’t find the grip which Lewis was finding(isn’t that a sign of better driver). There was everything in his drive, great overtaking moves, great defense. Also sublime qualifying lap. Lewis was just in a class of his own on this weekend.

    Great Job Lewis, more wins surely will come. Mclaren if they are smart should focus more on Hamilton now and not let Button compromise his stretgy, pitstops..etc.

          If the Red Bull’s are less than half a second faster they seem to start getting panicked.

          Webber could (should) have won this race, but strategic team errors held him back.

          Vettel seems to suffer from the car being less stable by the new blow diffuser regulations.

          Horner already said that last season Webber was better able to cope with the unstable car and Vettel had the benefit of the off throttle blowing in the second half of the season.

    I hate the guy but Lewis has to win it this weekend.

    Only challenge to him being drive of the weekend was Sutil but Di Resta was doing a similar job last weekend till Force India made a mess of his stop

    Maybe even the best performace over a weekend for the whole season so far?

    I´ll go with Hamilton, after what he did in qualifying, a victory would be possible and he made it.
    I also liked the races of Alonso, Sutil and Kobayashi.

    How amazing could have been this championship if Mclaren and Ferrari had started this championship with the pace they have now.

    Clearly it has to be Hamilton. From what I saw he made only one slight mistake all day, letting Weber past, which he quickly atoned for. Otherwise a flawless drive. Also big props to the entire McLaren team. Their race strategy and pit work were spot on. (for a change)

    I’ve given it to Sutil.

    He made no mistakes the entire weekend (as far as the coverage FOM gave me is concerned). Hamilton made one at the final chicane. Fantastic win though, responding to all his critics that jumped on the ‘he’s going to kill someone’ bandwagon. He just reminded us why he’s the best thing in F1 at the moment ( IMHO of course ;) )

    I’ve voted for Hamilton, he was the best. But I notice Hamilton wins a race and he is brilliant and he clearly wins driver of the race. Vettel was as brilliant as him in 5 races this year and he never won here. Not fair…
    Some of you will say Vettel had the best car, but we all know that, in those races, he was by far the best.

       There always seems to be an assumption that anyone who even got close to Vettel was doing a better job in inferior machinery, rather than considering that maybe in race trim, their cars aren’t any/much worse than the RB7.

       E.g. Alonso winning the poll in Turkey, Hamilton in Spain, Button in Monaco, Alonso again in Valencia.

       This weekend anyawy, it’s definitely Hamilton who was the best.

    Well I thought KOB did a fantastic job in the race itself, but I had to mark him down for b***ering up his qualifying in the first place. We didn’t see much of the action that KOB was involved in (partly because of the action at the front) but I think if we had, there would have been more votes going his way.
    But for the entire race weekend overall, there can be only one winner; Sebastian Bue . . . no wait!

    We’ve got 2 Die Hard Sebastian Vettel fans here,Personally he was the worst driver of the Weekend,No pace in the car at all,Mark was clearly faster than him and Vettel himself made some a Rookie-esq error by dipping his Wheel onto the Slippery,damp white line and created Horrible Flat Spots on his Tyres(Ok Schumi made that same mistake).

    In addition,he spent the majority of the Race stuck behind Massa for no reason,He’s has a quicker Package under him and he is a much quicker driver than Massa,still couldnt overtake him and had to rely on the Red Bull Pit Crew and Strategists to jump Massa ON THE FINAL LAP.

    Whoever picked Sebastian as their Driver of the Weekend doesnt know anything

       I agree that he doesn’t deserve to be voted for, but then, at least he doesn’t have the 4th highest number of votes (like a certain Mclaren drive did at Monaco).

       And considering that he’s never the best driver of the weekend when he’s faultless, Sebastian certainly wasn’t the worst, not when Karun Chandhok gets lapped 4 times and not when Heidfeld had 2 collisions. Most disappointing driver of the weekend is more appropriate.

          Hamilton drove great in Monaco. That some people don’t want to give up when they’re overtaken and rather crash is not his fault.

          hamilton made some great overtakes. For instance the one on Schumacher and on Petrov. The one on Maldonado was exactly the same as on Schumacher. Even with Maldonado weaving all over the track up until that first corner.

          The one with Massa was too ooprtunistic maybe, but Schumacher did exactly the same and got no penalty. Just because Hamilton and Rosberg do have the periferal vision to know that a car is besides them.

          Little harsh Steph, lol.

          My view is that Buemi covered the inside, saw Heidfeld going to the right, so he moved to cover the racing line and was then watching his left mirror to see if Heidfeld would attempt a dive up the inside, which he didn’t he continued to move the outside and ran out of track.

          You can suggest that Buemi should have looked in his other mirror once he realised Heidfeld wasn’t there, but they were travelling at 180+ mph

          Oddly enough Buemi gets a penalty for this when Button was excused for doind the same to Hamilton in Canada because he “didn’t see Hamilton”. Are they saying that Buemi DID see Heidfeld? That he indeed did this on purpose?

          So yeah, if you go by the stewards, this was an attempt to kill Heidfeld.

             Hamilton pulled out from behind Button much closer to the point at which the normal racing line would take the driver to the edge of the track. And he did it in wet conditions where Button would find it harder to see him.

             So I’m happy with the stewards’ call on this one.

    Certainly Lewis Hamilton for all of the reasons mentioned above. Sutil, Alonso and Webber are also all strong contenders for getting everything their cars had to give, but Lewis seemed to get that little bit more and deserved the victory.

       What’s weird is that no one else went for a 2 stop strategy. It obviously was the best choice. Well at least in hindsight it was.

    Do you really think you can overdrive a rubbish car for the whole race? In Barcelona Alonso led the first 1/3 of the race but by the finish line he got lapped. What I’m trying to say is that no matter how good of a driver you are, in F1 you can’t really win a race with the 3rd fastest car in normal conditions (ro rain, no pitstop mistakes for the opponents, same strategy as Webber and Alonso….) That said I really think McLaren played us a bit this weekend and actually had a heck of a car.
    P.S. My vote still goes to Hamilton

    gotta be one of the easiest polls this year. lewis without a doubt. great overtakes, which if they didn’t work would have had the knives out for him again, especially the drive around nando one. sure nando was on cold tyres, however lewis had shown how to defend turn 2 a bit earlier in the same situation.
    where was seb v? poor showing from the guy with the best car that d
